SEO
SEO means Search Engine Optimisation, and there are many factors to consider when implimenting it to your website. There is “on page” SEO and “Off page” SEO and both are important to search engine positions and Google page rankings.
One of the major factors are “Backlinks“, this means in-bound links to your website from the right websites and not the wrong ones, and believe me, there are a lot of the wrong type. Some websites get banned or penalised by Google for using ‘black hat’ SEO tricks or being used as ‘link farms’ and It’s because of this that many companies find themself wondering what they have done wrong when they start sliding off the #1 page in the search results!
For example: – If you trade links with a website today and all is well with that website, nice rankings, good clean website but six months down the road, that website gets banned by Google for whatever reason, or they no longer link to you, your position in the search results WILL BE dramatically effected. That is why you need somebody constantly checking all in-bound and out-bound links, as well as finding the link partners in the first place.
Aside from traditional “old school” SEO techniques, the world of Search Engine Optimisation is evolving everyday, moment to moment.
Google has been implementing the LSI technology it bought into its ranking algorithm. The “Google spiders” and other search engines are using Latent Semantic Indexing or LSI for short.
This means that they are looking for phrases in the content as opposed to just keywords, making the search engine more accurate. The search bot understands, organizes, and extracts knowledge from websites and information repositories in a way that mimics human thought and enables more effective information retrieval. (see LSI for more information about this and our techniques)
Using wordpress, blogger and other sites is another way to help a site improve organic rankings, again very time consuming, but should be part of your marketing plans.
Backlinks from other websites, as I mentioned earlier, with decent rankings is another way. This involves researching relevant websites and asking the webmaster for recipricol links, and constantly checking them..
